12.1 Our racing program is based on a full line of cars in each class. If this number is not available, alternate scheduling of program may be used. Racing events may be lined up in various ways to accomplish the best racing program.

12.2 Line-ups for the heat races will be determined by point per night average, draw or time trials.

12.3 Line-ups for heat races will be posted approximately ten minutes before race time. It is the driver's responsibility to check the line up and move their car into the staging lane for line up.

12.4 Cars not in their proper place when the pit steward moves them out to the track will be starting in the back of the pack. We will not hold an event up for you.

12.5 Once the cars have been staged for their event, moving that row straight ahead will fill empty slots in the lineup.

12.6 The inside pole driver sets the pace for the start or restart of the race.

12.7 If a collision or spin out occurs before all cars have cleared the second turn on a start or first restart, the race will be stopped. All cars return to their original lineup position unless they go to the pits or work on their cars. After all cars clear the second turn, the race will be stopped only in case of emergency or multi-car piles up. If the race is stopped after all cars clear turn two but before the first lap is completed, restart will be original lineup single file. Cars causing yellow or red flag will go to the back of the pack as directed by the head flagman.

12.8 Cars may not enter from outside the track area under green flag conditions at Altus Speedway. Cars in the infield may reenter the track if it can be done so safely. Cars may only come onto the track from the pit area while the yellow or red flag or light is on.

12.9 If track conditions warrant a caution or red flag, track scorers will immediately stop recording. The lineup for continuation of the race will be based on the running order of the last completed lap. Cars involved in the crash and cars going to the pits will go to the back of the line. Any car that is worked on by driver, crew, or track officials will be moved to the rear of the line.

12.10 The flagman or officials will at any time during a race have the right to deem a car unsafe and have the flagman give the car in question the black-flag. A black flag for unsportsman like conduct disqualifies that car for the rest of the race. If a car receives a black flag for safety reasons, the car can make repairs and return to racing under the track entrance rules.

12.11 In order to get credit for finishing a race, the driver must complete at least one posted lap.

12.12 At the flagman's discretion, the winner may take a victory lap with checkered flag. One slow down lap will be made after receiving the checkered flag before exiting the track.

12.13 In the case of a dead heat, the win goes to the inside car.

12.14 The flagman's decision will be final during any event. Any argument concerning his decision may result in your disqualification for the entire race program.

12.15 During races, the only people allowed on the track are the safety crew and racing officials. Everyone must stay behind the fences at all times unless requested by the officials to assist for some special reason. Anyone coming on to the track to work on a car will cause that car to go to the back of the lineup upon restart of the race.

12.16 Unauthorized driver change will result in disqualification and forfeiture of all money and points earned during the race program.

12.17 Any driver intentionally causing an accident will be disqualified for the rest of the racing program. Officials will decide what action to take on the offending driver.

Blue/Yellow - Passing or move over flag. Cars receiving this flag shall yield the groove so that lapping cars may pass.

Red - Emergency on the track, all cars are to stop immediately and proceed to start/finish line for realignment. No working on cars during a red flag. Cars being worked on will be placed at the back of the lineup.

Black - Consultation flag, pull off track immediately. A rolled up black flag is a warning to the driver. Any over aggressive driving will result in disqualification for that race. A black flag held stretched out is for mechanical or hazardous situations, proceed immediately to the pit or work area.

White - One lap remaining in the race.

19. ENGINE CLAIMING RULES

(A) $1000 cash claim on cylinder heads.

(B) First four position finishers must report directly to claim area and are subject to engine claim by any other driver finishing fifth on back in feature that has not been lapped by the fourth place driver. Failure to report directly to claim area will result in disqualification and loss of money and points for first infraction (heads are still claimable); will be treated as engine claim refusal for second infraction. Driver allowed one claim ONLY per event, regardless of outcome of that claim. In case of multiple claims on same heads, a drawing will be held to determine which driver gets the heads.
(C) Driver making claim must drive his racecar immediately after finish of feature, under its own power, directly to claiming area. Highly recommended that only involved drivers and officials be allowed in claiming area.
(D) Claims must be made to official immediately after end of feature race, and claimed heads must be completely removed within one hour from time claim is made and driver agrees to sell claimed engine.
(E) Claims must be made to official, and $1000 cash, with valid Altus Speedway.
(F) Only driver may claim engine and only driver may agree to sell or refuse to sell engine.
(G) Refusal to sell forfeits all cash and contingency winnings for feature, any trophies earned in feature, plus ALL Altus Speedway points in all claim divisions for the season. Any driver refusing to sell heads, when claimed within rules, regardless of his reinstatement with Altus Speedway, loses his right to claim any Altus Speedway driver's heads for 12 calendar months from date of reinstatement. Claim is not charged to claiming driver in case of a refusal.
(H) First refusal to sell will result in loss of ALL Altus Speedway points in all claim divisions for the season and will also result in driver being suspended from Altus Speedway events in all claim divisions for 30 calendar days from date of refusal and until $1,000 cash fine is paid to Altus Speedway. Fine must be in the form of a cashier's check or money order and be received in the Altus Speedway office prior to driver returning to competition. Second refusal to sell will result in driver being suspended from Altus Speedway events for one year from date of refusal and until $5,000 cash fine is paid to Altus Speedway Third refusal results in permanent suspension from all Altus Speedway sanctioned events.
(I) Once a claim has been made and accepted, the engine is not to be started, under any circumstances. The car is to be pushed to the area where removal will take place. Any driver starting a claimed engine will be immediately disqualified from that event and will be suspended from all Altus Speedway sanctioned events until such time as a $1000 fine is paid to Altus Speedway. All claimed heads must be removed from car at the track.
(J) Any sabotage discovered to claim engine will result in driver being suspended from Altus Speedway competition for 30 calendar days and until $1,000 cash fine is paid to Altus Speedway. Drivers are to be held accountable for any sabotage discovered while pulling the heads, and will be responsible for any and all penalties as a result of any sabotage. The claim will be disallowed and the money returned to the claimer.
(K) Claim is in effect on opening night for all eligible drivers and driver must have been at track on opening night to be eligible to claim second night of season. Following that, no driver may claim unless he/she has competed at that track the two previous consecutive sanctioned events as Altus Speedway members.
(L) No one driver may claim any other one driver more than once during current calendar year.
(M) A disqualification will not affect a legal claim. The heads will be pulled and transferred prior to any penalties being assessed.
(N) Unsportsmanlike conduct during the claim procedure, or while pulling the heads, will result in an immediate $100 fine.
(O) Any driver claiming at an Altus Speedway event must be a member in good standing with Altus Speedway.
